One of the most gratifying experiences of fly fishing is laying out a great cast followed by the tug of a fish. This is the moment when the world around you responds to the substance of a well executed fly cast. Landing the fly in just the right spot, at just the right time, makes for a very rewarding fly fishing experience!
Join me, Misty Dhillon, to master the art of a beautiful and successful fly cast.
While fly casting together you’ll practice the mastery of 2 casts that are essential in any fly fishing journey. A backward cast, and a forward cast. You’ll receive instruction that cultivates the mindful stopping of the rod, feeling your rod-loading, and mastering proper casting form. You’ll learn to cast a great loop by following the 4 principles of a fly cast.
A full day of guided fishing includes 7-hours spent practicing fly casting, fishing, along with optional hiking to explore the Patapsco valley in Ellicott City with Misty Dhillon. Misty’s passion for the outdoors brings awareness to a host of species along with attention to a beautifully executed fly cast.
Please note: Early morning departures are highly recommendations for this valley to avoid the crowds and make the best of what the valley has to offer.
Practice casting with a FFI Certified Casting Instructor. The Patapsco is a forgiving and rewarding river to take your skills to the waters as quickly as possible.
Practice Physical Distancing while connecting to your seasoned guide on this off-beat outdoor adventure in Ellicott City.
Fish with a pioneering and well traveled guide who’s spent over 20 years pioneering fly fishing in the Himalayas. Misty is also a licensed guide by the Maryland DNR.
Half-day’s fishing includes 4-hours of guided fishing. These 4-hours can be spent practicing casting and exploring fishing situations on the water. The Patapsco also has a healthy population of small-mouth bass. It’s waters warm up in the summers and offer plenty of space to hone your back-cast as much as your forward-cast.
Please also note that all fishing with Transformative Travel LLC is using a single barbless hook only. This is considering safety and minimizing air-exposure to fish.
Hourly casting-lessons take place at Howard County’s Centennial Lake. A fishing license is not required for casting practice as it will be done on a lawn. All fly fishing gear is sanitized before and after use. We also encourage our participants to do the same before and after use.
