One of the most gratifying experiences of fly fishing is laying out a great cast followed by the tug of a fish. This is the moment when the world around you responds to the substance of a well executed fly cast. Landing the fly in just the right spot, at just the right time, makes for a very rewarding fly fishing experience!
Join me, Misty Dhillon, to master the art of a beautiful and successful fly cast.
While fly casting together you’ll practice the mastery of 2 casts that are essential in any fly fishing journey. A backward cast, and a forward cast. You’ll receive instruction that cultivates the mindful stopping of the rod, feeling your rod-loading, and mastering proper casting form. You’ll learn to cast a great loop by following the 4 principles of a fly cast.
- THE STRAIGHT PLANE Be intentional of accelerating you casting-hand in a straight plane during a casting stroke.
- THE MINDFUL STROKE Short cast, short stroke. Long Cast, long stroke.
- THE INTENTIONAL STOP Short cast, short stop. Long cast, long stop.
- THE ACCELERATION All casts accelerate to a mindful stop.
