The prime period for fly fishing in the Patapsco River spans from March 25 to November. For novice anglers without waders, it’s recommended to plan your fishing excursions between May 15 and September 15.
What items are essential to bring for your fly fishing expedition? Ensure you have a valid Maryland non-Tidal fishing license if you’re 16 years and older. Depending on the season, pack a reliable pair of wading boots or river sandals. Don’t forget to include a rain jacket and a wading and hiking stick/wading staff. Other necessities encompass a water bottle, sunblock, and insect repellent. It’s wise to keep spare clothing and a towel in your car. Lastly, approach the experience with an open and adaptable mindset.

Just click on the COMPASS portal, select the appropriate license type, and you’re all set! Choose the non-tidal license allows licensee to fish in the fresh waters of Maryland.
You can also reprint your fishing license if it gets lost or damaged, or even register as a saltwater angler if you’ve never done so before.
