Uniquely the remote atolls of the Maldives have always stood out as a prolific saltwater fly fishing destination. Featuring over 1,200 low-lying coral – spread well over 30,000 square miles through the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean.
As a matter of fact, much of the economy of the Republic of the Maldives is tourism. Though fly fishing yet has to make its way into the hearts of the Maldivian fishers. Hence, only a handful of operators run fly fishing trips here. For the simple reason of not just a very short window, but also as much of the tourism industry is dominated by private island resorts. Then again, only a few of them understand the vision of fly fishing in the Maldives.
Fly fishing location: As long as one’s calling is a private island getaway for fly fishing. Maalifushi is probably your best bet.
