Private Maldives Journeys for You and the People You Love

Your own island villa, a table on a sandbank at sunset, and mantas gliding under the boat. We match the island to your group, not to a hotel brand, and handle every detail from your front door to the water.

A note from Misty

Every island in the Maldives looks perfect in a photo. The difference is in the details you can't see: how long the transfer really takes, whether the seaplane leaves before your flight lands, which villas sleep your whole group, and who answers the phone if something goes wrong. We don't work for any one hotel group. We choose the island for the people you're bringing, then we stay with you until you're home.

Transformative Travel provides a truly memorable and profound experience. I've been to India and most recently to Bhutan with this company. The owner, Misty, works with you every step of the way to prepare a tailored itinerary. He makes time for multiple Zoom meetings and introduces you to the guides he personally knows and has worked with for years. My guides in Bhutan became my friends. We had so many great conversations, learning about each other's countries as we traveled through the fantastic landscapes, visited sacred places, and hiked up mountainsides and through edenic valleys. These are memories I will…

My goal was to curate an amazing adventure for my 50th birthday celebration. Costa Rica was at the top of my list for destinations but I needed help with planning the trip. I am so thankful for finding Transformative Travel LLC. From our first connection to our most recent conversation following the trip, Misty and his team were fantastic!!!! Misty listened to what I wanted for my trip and he helped make it happen! I traveled to India and Bhutan with Misty Dhillon this Spring. Amazing Experience! Misty and the Transformative Travel team are thoughtful, knowledgeable and attentive professionals who make painstaking efforts to ensure your trip is memorable and seamless. The landscapes, temples, food, wildlife, and overall cultural imersion was so impressive, I have already begun making arrangements to return with TT in 2028.

We match the island to your group

We don't work for any one hotel group. These are examples of the islands we recommend, chosen for each group.

A whole island to yourselves

For 8 to 20+ guests: one private island or a full buyout, with your own staff, chef and boat. Examples: Four Seasons Private Island Voavah, Velaa Private Island residences

Big villas, side by side

Three- and four-bedroom residences where everyone has their own space and meets for dinner. Examples: Soneva Fushi, JOALI, One&Only Reethi Rah, Patina Fari Islands

Three generations

Islands with proper kids' and teens' clubs, shallow lagoons and marine biologists who teach as they snorkel. Examples: Cheval Blanc Randheli, Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru, Waldorf Astoria Ithaafushi

Wellness and recovery

Islands built around sleep, breathwork and recovery programs, with practitioners on site. Examples: JOALI Being, Six Senses Laamu, COMO Maalifushi

For the anglers

Atolls with sand flats and fishing guides, so one of you can fish while the other doesn't. Examples: COMO Maalifushi, Conrad Rangali

Close to the airport

Islands reached by speedboat at any hour, so a late flight never means a night in Malé. Examples: One&Only Reethi Rah, Waldorf Astoria Ithaafushi, Gili Lankanfushi

When to go

There's no bad month, only different trips.

Best for calm seas

December–April

Dry season. Calmest water, clearest visibility and the flats-fishing season. Our most requested months.

Best for mantas

May-November

More wind and showers, lower prices, and manta season in Baa Atoll, best from late July to early October.

Plan Far Ahead

Christmas & New Year

Rates are highest, minimum stays apply and gala dinners are usually compulsory. Large villas book 12 to 18 months ahead.

Whale sharks

All Year

South Ari Atoll has whale sharks year-round, so they fit any trip.

Comfort, safety and pace

The questions every group asks us first, answered plainly.

Getting there

There are no nonstop flights from the US. Most guests connect through Doha, Dubai or Istanbul, about 18 to 21 hours in all. We choose flights that land in time for your transfer.

No surprise night in Malé

Seaplanes only fly in daylight. If your flight lands late, we either choose an island reached by speedboat or book a comfortable airport hotel for the night, planned in advance.

Pace

As gentle or as active as you like. Snorkelling, fishing and boat trips are always optional, and every island has shaded, quiet places to do nothing.

Our team on Call

One person to call from first quote to flight home, and our team on call around the clock while you travel.

Medical access

Resorts have clinics, but advanced care is only in Malé, which has a hospital hyperbaric chamber. Medical evacuation insurance is required, and we plan around how far you are from care.

Staying Connected

Resorts have Wi-Fi across the island, and most have mobile coverage. You can switch off as much as you like.

Activity level

Gentle to moderate. Walks of 1 to 4 hours, every one optional. If you can walk comfortably for an hour, you’ll be fine.

Food

Fresh, simple and adjusted to every diet in your group. Spice is always on the side.

Add the Maldives to a Himalayan journey

Temples first, then the sea

Some guests close their journeys in the Maldives: culture first, sunlit stillness last.

Sri Lanka and the Maldives

Colombo is just over an hour from Malé, so tea country and wildlife pair easily with a week on the water.

Your journey begins here.
