Do US citizens need visa for Nepal?

Yes, US citizens do need visa for Nepal in order to enter. And yes, you can I get a Nepal visa at the airport. However, it is important to know that if you have already entered the country and landed at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) (KTM) in Kathmandu, you will need to apply for a visa in advance. 

*A visa is one of the requirements for entry into the country. 

Tribhuvan International Airport is the only international airport of Nepal. Immigration Office, TIA (Tribhuvan International Airport) under Department of Immigration has been facilitating tourists flying to Nepal by providing Visa on Arrival.

How much is US visa fee in Nepal?

Nepal’s visa fee is subject to change without notice. Please check here for the latest information on US visa fees in Nepal.

The current Nepal visa fee is applied for a period of 15 days, 30 days and 90 days. Hence, the fee varies depending upon the type of visa you want to apply for.

  • The current fee for a single-entry visa is 15 USD per person and USD 30 for multiple entries.
  • For a multiple-entry visa, you have to currently pay USD 50 each time you apply for it.
  • A double-entry visa costs USD 125 per person currently and lasts 90 days on its own or up to 180 days if you also have a single-entry visa in your passport.
Our usual recommendation is to apply for a visa at least 10 days before your trip begins.

How much is US visa fee in Nepal?

You’ll need to provide the following documents, in addition to your passport, for a visa application:

1. Passport with a minimum of 6 months validity.

2. You must provide your actual signed passport, including one copy of the personal information page of your passport.

3. Photographs (4cm x 4cm) – two photos are required for each applicant.

4. Visa Application Form Hotel Confirmation, if you have reserved accommodation in Nepal and wish to apply for a tourist visa at an international airport or border post (if applicable).

Also, a good idea to carry the exact amount required for the visa and crisp bank notes.  

Where can I get US dollars in Nepal?

Well-known banks in Kathmandu include Everest Bank, Standard Chartered Bank Nepal, Himalayan Bank, Nepal SBI Bank, and many others. Most banks are open between 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM from Sunday to Thursday, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Fridays and closed on Saturdays.
