The distinction between fly-fishing for trout in the Himalayas versus elsewhere lies in the breathtaking backdrop, rich cultural heritage, warm hospitality, and the tenacity of the native snow trout but also introduced Brown trout that have adapted to these challenging Himalayan rivers.
When it comes to trout, especially the common snow trout, provide an exhilarating encounter on a fly rod. These native species, which are also found in these rivers, can be quite elusive.
The adventure kicks off in Uttarakhand, India, with a thrilling 12-day fly fishing expedition that culminates in Himachal Pradesh. Along the way, you’ll traverse scenic and serene hill passes, embark on hikes to the source of the Yamunā river, and trek to some of India’s prime spots for trout fly fishing amidst the grandeur of the Himalayas.

Day by Day
Itinerary
Arrive in New Delhi and be chauffeured to your hotel (JB Marriott) about 15 minutes drive.
Fly to Dehradun and drive to Mussoorie that is located just over 6,500 ft. Welcome to the Himalayas!
Journey to your pre-set camp on the banks of the Tons river in Uttarakhand (4 hrs drive). Arrive and settle in. Enjoy a short hike if time allows or do some trout fly fishing.
Enjoy hiking, rafting, fly fishing and depending on your interests your days can be customized but also flexible.
An early start is the order of the day. Drive through the Govind National park to start your trek following the Rupin river to your pre set camp. Settle in after a day’s trek and fish for trout. End your day with a refreshing hot bucket bath and a meal around a small fire.
Enjoy trout fly fishing, hiking and visiting remote villages to learn from ancient living cultures, local, historic temples the potent aspects of living of the land.
Depart early and drive to Chail to stay at the Chail Palace.
Make your way to New Delhi via air, bet met by the concierge of the JB Marriott and be chauffeured to your hotel (15 minutes).
